EINDHOVEN – At the beginning of September, Eric Riegen, healthcare entrepreneur and former CEO of Barry Emons BV, took office as investor and commercial director at Mentech Innovation. Eric brings the right expertise to successfully market the HUME in 2021. The HUME is a software system that can recognize stress in people with misunderstood behavior based on sensors and artificial intelligence. By recognizing stress at an early stage, a healthcare professional can anticipate the care needs of someone with an intellectual disability or dementia.

“Everyone can participate” is Eric Riegen’s motto. Eric says: ‘Everyone, including people with a disability or ailment has the right to development and to live a life as normal as possible. I would like to contribute to a better quality of life for everyone. ‘ Eric already has a lot of experience with long-term care issues. In the past 8 years, as owner / CEO of Barry Emons BV, the expert in controlled multisensory environment (MSE), and safe rest and sleep, he has been able to experience the vulnerability of people with intellectual disabilities and dementia up close.

He came into contact with Mentech through Money Meets Ideas, an investor platform of Rabobank and KplusV. Eric: ‘I was surprised that Mentech developed the HUME, a software system that gives people with misunderstood behavior a voice. Given that misunderstood behavior is a major issue in long-term care, I expect the HUME to bring a major change in the care process. Understanding people better with the HUME is an excellent fit with my personal mission. ‘

Erwin Meinders, General Manager of Mentech, is proud that Eric, as a care entrepreneur with a passion for long-term care, is committed to Mentech’s mission. Erwin: ‘Eric is a great asset to Mentech. In the past year, we have validated the HUME through several successful pilots with healthcare institutions. We will complete these pilot studies in the coming months. Thanks to Eric’s relevant knowledge and experience in long-term care, we can accelerate the implementation of the HUME within healthcare institutions. ‘

We look forward to a pleasant cooperation and successful implementation of the HUME!
