In cooperation with Special Olympics Netherlands, Mentech is developing an app for athletes with a intellectual disability. The app encourages athletes to work on their condition and health on a daily basis, making them fitter and healthier both on the sports field and in daily life.
“Caring for my child has given way to pride in my child!” Said a parent of a Special Olympics athlete. Special Olympics, the sports organization for people with a intellectual disability, gives its athletes a stage to shine. Everyone must be able to exercise at his or her own level. Fun is always paramount. Sport stimulates the personal development of people with a intellectual disability, increases their self-confidence and self-esteem, keeps people fit and healthy, and contributes to a positive image.
To help realize the dreams of athletes, Special Olympics Netherlands is developing the Score your PR! app. The app is launched in February 2020 so that athletes can score a Personal Record during the National Games 2020 in early June in The Hague! The app is a tool for running a training program to stay healthy and in top condition. If you are fit, you score better. The app encourages athletes to work on their fitness and health on a daily basis, making them fitter and healthier both on the sports field and in daily life.
The app is currently in development in collaboration with Mentech. Mentech is a company specialized in assistive technology and apps for people with a intellectual disability. One of the products is the HUME, an emotion recognition system, which is currently being validated in a national pilot study with various healthcare institutions.
