Job description

As a Back-end Software Engineer at Mentech, you will play a critical role in advancing our product offerings. Your expertise in Java, coupled with your knowledge of cloud-based systems, particularly AWS, will be instrumental in developing new features and ensuring our platforms are reliable and efficient. This position offers the unique opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team, translating complex requirements into impactful software solutions.

What will you do?

• Develop and enhance the back-end of our product systems using Java, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.
• Participate actively in all phases of the application lifecycle, with an emphasis on coding, debugging, and integration.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, data scientists, and healthcare professionals to deliver seamless solutions that make a real difference.
• Leverage cloud-based technologies, specifically AWS, to deploy and manage solutions effectively.
• Contribute to code reviews, continuous integration, testing, and deployment processes to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.

What do we look for in you?

Must-have:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in back-end development, preferable in Java.
• Proficiency in cloud services, especially AWS, and experience in deploying and managing cloud-based solutions.
• Experience in developing REST APIs and working with relational databases in enterprise software.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development methodologies.
• Interested in the medical domain, particularly in projects related to health technology or care.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with GraphQL for developing APIs.
• Knowledge on infrastructure as code (Terraform, Serverless)
• Knowledge of non-relational databases and their application in scalable projects.
• Familiarity with MQTT or other messaging protocols suitable for real-time communication.
• Understanding of edge computing concepts and experience in developing solutions for edge devices.
• Dutch language familiarity.
